D-Day Dog by Tom Palmer: Recommended by Ollie 7W

The D-Day Dog is about a boy called Jack who loves anything to do with war. He also has a dog called Fin. Jack’s dad, who is a reserve soldier, decides to volunteer in Afghanistan and when he is mobilised, he tells Jack, but not his wife. When Jacks mum finds out, his parents get into a big fight. Jack is sat outside the door and hears everything. That’s when he discovers some of the real horrors of war and suddenly hates it. When Jack has a school trip to the D-Day landing beaches, he becomes interested in the true story of a young soldier who parachuted into France with his dog. He begins to understand why war happens, what soldiers did to protect our country and feels proud of those who helped in the war.

In my opinion this is a great book.
