Author Helen Moss visits the Primary phase – some Year 6 blogs

On Thursday 21st April, the author Helen Moss came in and talked to us about her books. She has written a series of ‘Adventure Island’ books. She has also written three other books which are not in the Adventure Island series. Since she was little she has always wanted to be an author.

The books which inspired her to write are ‘Scooby Doo’ and ‘The Famous Five’ She has been to lots of different countries and every time,  has brought back a different thing to remind her of her experience and help her to write her books. When she went to China she brought back a jade bracelet, when she went to Egypt and she brought back a dung beetle and finally when she went to Mexico and she brought back a model of a pineapple!

I think her books are very inspiring and mysterious and make your mind expand your imagination and are mind blowing.

Helen Moss writes adventure stories. To make her stories she went to China, Mexico and Egypt. She bought a pineapple from Mexico, a stone with a big bug in the middle from Egypt and she got a bracelet made out of jade from China. I thought she is a really good author and I like her book that I bought.

Helen Moss came in on Thursday 21st April 2016.  She spoke about how she came up with her stories and her adventures. She explained how she came up with the characters in her stories as well. Also she is very funny and asked us what our favourite bad guys and bad girls are. Thanks Helen for coming in.

On Thursday 21st April, the author Helen Moss came to Litcham Primary phase. She told us that to inspire her stories, she has travelled to many different countries! Each time she bought something interesting back to put on her desk whilst writing, to help her imagine the place she was writing about. Helen Moss also showed us many pictures of her past including one which inspired her to write her series of books called ‘Adventure Island’

Did you know that Helen Moss decided to write mystery stories because of some of the films she has watched and books she has read since earlier life? Some that she mentioned were ‘Scooby Doo’ and ‘The Famous Five’ books.

Once she had finished telling us about how she had become an author we were allowed to ask some questions, which there were very many of.

Helen Moss 2After all the questions had been asked, anyone with book money went into the library to buy Helen’s books with signatures in. I was lucky enough to be able to get the Phoenix Code. So far so good!

On Thursday 21st April, Helen Moss came in and told us all about her books. I really like her ideas and style when I am reading her books. She has been to lots of countries and each time she does she brings something home to give her inspiration for a new book. Some of her recent books are called the ‘Phoenix Code, The Dragons Path and The Serpent King’. A lot of my friends have her books. I think she is a very good author and I enjoy reading her books.

On Thursday 21st of April we had a visit by a famous author called Helen Moss, who came to talk to us about what it is like being an author. She told us that each of her books in the ‘Secret of the Tombs’ series are set in different countries; Mexico, China and Egypt. For inspiration on her books, when she came home she brought back a little emblem to help her write. Mexico was a Pineapple, Egypt was a dung beetle and China was a Jade bracelet. I would recommend these books to 9 to 15 year olds and I would give it a 4 and a half star rating.
